In the search of Halal food in Cambodia
*BACKDATED 10TH APRIL TO 16TH APRIL 2014
; My friends and I spend a good 4 days in the capital city of Cambodia called Siem Reap. This city is filled with friendly tourist hot spots and it seems that tourisity demands is high, locals struggle to survive by depending on our expenditure. Food, espicially street foods can found anywhere, from deep fried foods to fruits to desserts. Mostly sold in tuk tuks. They even have magic pizzas. Weed is kinda illegal but yet easy to find if you offer the right price. The picture above shows a local Cambodians selling peanuts at 25 cents per cup which is very very cheap for us. Cambodia using American currency as their currency is too small.
; We finally found a local halal Cambodian food delicacies that cooked by the locals. 100% halal. Where we are is located somewhere in Sieam Reap at a small muslim living community near to a mosque. She cooked a mixed beef meat with seafood and vegetables on a hotpot. it taste very nice espicially the soup. Supported by mostly Malaysian and Indonesian tourist thanks to them this stall stands strong and alive. The local are very friendly people. they share us their daily lives and culture. Which obviously different then where im coming from.
; We took a long roam and stroll the streets of Siem Reap. As usual we try to find halal food at most we could find Indian or middle eastern halal cuisine. not much was offered by the locals to serve us local halal cuisine. We were hungry so we had no choice to go and have a good dinner. It wasnt a bad dinner after all despite we know how Indian cuisine tasted like.
; Last but not least the great Kingdom of Angkorwat. It is to be part of the ancient wonders of the world base on its very old infrastructure and history of this place. Hollywood made an appearence from Lara Croft Tomb Raider the movie.
Visit Siem Reap, Cambodia. Its an educational trip.
